Admission Denied
Sunday, June 28th, 2009On Saturday got back to the Tunnel Walls in Glencoe with Mike Lee. Thankfully the bolts were still in! Really had forgotten how awesome this wall is. Wind was blowing nicely and temp was perfect. Plan was to try Admission F7c+ and get it in a day. I stuck the clips up with aid of the stick and worked through an intricate set of sequences between the bolts. However the bulge gave me problems and before I knew it over an hour had gone by. On the first redpoint I was spat off on the bulge as predicted as my left forearm melted. Mike made my efforts look shameful by flashing up to the crux and then pissing past my high point up onto the pumpy headwall before pinging off.
Next go I put in a decent fight but didn’t feel quite as rested on the jugs (?). I pushed on and got pasted my last high point, just! I probably should have heeded the warning from Mikes high point because I dead ended at the same place when I ended up stretched on sloping holds, pumped and unable to lift my feet. I should have used the foot hold at my left knee! I was too knackered for another try with sore skin and cramped forearms. I probably should have had another go but couldn’t see the point in suffering when I’d like it to feel comfortable. The luxury’s of a full timer. I think I got lucky on Fatedpath last year. These big routes burn a lot of energy. For next time I’m definitely going to get my Stamina and Power Endurance trained up.
